This week we have been talking about our families and showing photos of our family members. We have read the story 'So much' to fit in with this. We've also been looking at 2D and 3D shapes, learning their names and their properties. Can you say what these shapes are below?

Welcome to Sunflower Class

I want to say a great big welcome to our new children in Sunflower class. It's their first day today and we've got so many fun things planned.

Miss Pembroke and I will use this blog to keep you updated on what we get up to throughout the year in class. Please feel free to write us a comment or attach any work you do at home, so that we can share it with the class.

This week we have been looking at the different parts of a plant, labelling pictures and doing observational drawings. We have also planted sunflower seeds and we will be writing diaries showing what happens to them over the next few weeks.

Can you label the plant below?

Welcome back Sunflower class.

I hope you all had a lovely Easter holiday.

Tomorrow we are going to be sharing what we did during the holidays. Have a think about which part you would like to share with the class.

We're also starting a new topic called 'Our World'

What would you like to find out about our world?
I would like to find out how much of the Earth is water.

Hello Sunflower class,

Well, what an exciting week! We received a letter from the wolf telling us where he has been in school. Can you believe he has been in our classroom? Did you see him? We have written letters, drawn maps and made traps to try and get him, no luck yet but maybe next week.

We've also been learning about halving which we practised when we made our sandwiches. Can you find half of these numbers?

4, 6, 8, 10, 12.

We're beginning to look at doubles. Can you double these numbers?

3, 6, 9, 10.

Next week, we're moving onto a different story. Can you guess what it is from the clue below?

We have a new story in Sunflower class. We are now reading The Three Little Pigs. Mademoiselle Stella read the story to us in Spanish and we also read it in Polish with some of the children in Sunflower class translating for us.

We've also built houses and then seen how easy it is to 'huff and puff' and blow them down. Can you remember which type of house was blown down easily? Which was the strongest?
