Hello Sunflower class,

Well, what an exciting week! We received a letter from the wolf telling us where he has been in school. Can you believe he has been in our classroom? Did you see him? We have written letters, drawn maps and made traps to try and get him, no luck yet but maybe next week.

We've also been learning about halving which we practised when we made our sandwiches. Can you find half of these numbers?

4, 6, 8, 10, 12.

We're beginning to look at doubles. Can you double these numbers?

3, 6, 9, 10.

Next week, we're moving onto a different story. Can you guess what it is from the clue below?

I think the new story will be Jack and the beanstalk.

I saw the wolf in the village in the woodland walk. I was playing with Charlotte and we saw the wolf but he ran away.

I know that half of four is 2. Four is 2 and 2.
I can use my fingers to work out that half of 6 is 3.
If you share something by 2, it is the same as half of it.

  4. You are both right, Thomas and Emily. Our new story is Jack and the Beanstalk.

Emily, can you show me where you saw the wolf? We can see if he's been there over the weekend.

Thank you for sharing your work on halves, Emily. We'll do some more of this in class, later in the week.
